Firefox won't save my Yahoo mail passwords, but Explorer will.

Firefox used to save passwords for yahoo Mail, but lately does not seem to be working. I have 2 mail accounts and passwords with Yahoo. I have read through and clicked all the things about allowing passwords to be saved but nothing is working. I do not have this problem with Explorer. If this is just something that Yahoo has done to shut out Firefox then so be it, but if there is something that can be done I would appreciate the help.

I read through other Q&A's on this, looks like a big problem all over, but many of the so-called solutions about bookmarks, etc I can't understand what to do. Many say "solved" but I do not see any solution.

I did try a bookmarklet. I did see another computer able to save passwords. Neither were my computers and the computers used GoogleChrome. I suspect Yahoo may have upped security at some stage. I do not have a Yahoo account myself. I also noted GoogleChrome does not use a master password so all passwords are visible. hello, websites can specify if browsers should be able to save username/passwords (through the autocomplete="off" attribute in the login form in the html source code) - this is also the case with yahoo.

you can either install an addon or use a bookmarklet to circumvent this restriction.

OK, this is a good answer...the "use a bookmarklet" choice is a confusing stream of jibberish, but the "install an addon" choice leads to something that will enable the passwords to be saved, as well as getting the prompt asking if I want to save the password.

So the addon is a complete fix, IMO. I resaved my two usernames and passwords using the addon.

Now moving the comment to an ordinary post.

I guess in fact it may be Google Chrome that blocks the bookmarklet action. Not Yahoo.

I have not raised any part of the question about Chrome, or a bookmarklet...all irrelevant to me. Based on using the addon, my question is solved and as long as others try the addon then it should be OK.
