how do you turn on/off safesearch

Today i started a search, but could not get any results. It said safesearch was on and words I used needed to be changed. I never turned it on, so I don't know how to turn it back off. Any help would be appreciated.

Safesearch is something used by google to filter out mature topics from searches. You can disable it by reading http://www.wikihow.com/Turn-Off-Google-Safesearch, try method 3
