Can't download files because Firefox keeps asking for consent and there isn't an ALLOW button anywhere

more options

Everytime I try to download a "large" file Firefox keeps asking me:

Firefox needs your consent to download large files. Please click ALLOW to continue your transfer.

If you cannot see the request, please click on the icon next to the address bar.

I didn't have this kind of troubles before until the new version, I'm so frustrated that I'm really thinking to switch to Chrome instead.

And in case someone wonders, there isn't a request icon at ALL.

I had same problem, what work for me was, type about:permissions in new tab link and type mega site in left search box and click forget site on right side and gave it storage permission. Then on mega download page I refresh and this time an allow button did pop up.

This did not work the first 2 times but the 3rd time it worked, I just do over and over till it works. sometimes I just have to redo it a few times but it does work for me.

I got old firefox I have not updated in a long time and mega stop working out of blue so I say its not the new firefox updates but mega that's mess up.

Hey..... Can I make a remark... regarding all the helpfull info you guys post

..... you really talk an alien language...

I have the same problem...as this guy

and I found it 3 times faster to switch to chrome then to figure out all the things that could POSSIBLY go wrong somewhere in firefox

like the guy said so far the help didn't help.... still thanks though!!!

so resorted to using chrome when it comes to downloading big files with Mega.... which is a real shame because chrome stinks :)

Hi UnannnouncedGuest, this thread has gotten really long, and the more people join, the harder it gets to distill the recommendations and experiences.

I think the most popular suggestion is the add-on (MEGA extension), but some people also have luck clearing the data Firefox has stored for the site so that Firefox thinks it is visiting and granting permission for the first time.

I have the same problem with this Version, the last of Mocilla, curiously, in the discharge page appear : For Windows x64 OS, here are a set of release for the major Firefox 64-bit releases: and the download possible there is only for Firefox Nightly and never for the classic Mocilla Firefox that I ever used. In this, MEGA is not possible to connect and no any solution is possible, so for me from now the CHROME will be the explorer to use too. I am vey sorry because for years and years was Firefox that I prefered. I don't understand like a last version can become so bad.

Hi redfourstar, if I understand correctly, you are saying the MEGA site and the MEGA add-on are not compatible with the 64-bit Nightly version of Firefox (future Firefox 26). Hopefully this will be resolved during testing before the final release of Firefox 26. Or it could be because you are using the 64-bit version, which doesn't work with as many add-ons.

i fixed just installing the "mega" plugin for firefox.. and its working fine..

I have the same problem. But I use Firefox in Private Browsing mode, so no History. Solution: I simply cannot download large files from Mega in Firefox Private Browsing or there is a better solution?

Hi boys, thanks for your ideas about a solution but in any case the program is not usable and definitely every solution that you are giving to me really is a limitation that is not using the CHROME. The solution is very simple and it is forget Mocilla. I now have downloaded Mocilla 64bit (not the Nightly) and the result is the same. Being honest and having a browser that does not have this problem with MEGA or the TPB... doesn't make sense to use FIREFOX until it is, as a few months ago in which, for me, it was the best. In adition I must tell to you that some solution are not solutions because they do not ere soluitions.

edit:

  • sigh* seems it doesn't work with history (and so on) disabled.

When FF is saving the history, etc. it works just fine.

Your ideas are acceptables but no useble. One of these solutions is a partial solution and for that is not a real solution while we are using a restricted application. Now there are some different and complete solutions like SAFARI, CHROME or EXPLORER..."Sorry but the Mocilla must work as we expect it must do". This is a very competitive world and a half solution from a big Brand is not accepted I don't understand how we are still talking about this problem and the Mocilla Staff waching from the other side of the wall. RIP for them.

Hi Edward27821, have you used that software successfully with the mega.co.nz site? If not, most likely it is not relevant. The site uses a unique technology that bypasses the normal download mechanism.

Well, well... is possible you can download files from mega, OK, but in any case the problem is still the same for firefox'staff . Why are we trying to resolve a problem that it is not our problem.?

Hello guys, now I have a new problem. Eevery 40 minutes firefox suddenly closes and the settings must log restoring tabs from last session and it does not. You can see the configuration and the rebooted new session in the attached photo. The result is a catastrophe as lost all the information, an email pretty complicated to write who disappeared. It is not possible to continue using this program. Same occurs you to most people or just my. Exists a reason Can a reason there be to make it happen by a bad or wrong configuration? Thank you.

Does Firefox submit crash reports, if that is the cause of these closes?

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".

Hi redfourstar, we probably should start a new thread about this problem. You can do that here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new/desktop/fix-problems

Meanwhile, consider using an extension to save form data. I don't know whether it works with emails or in private browsing windows: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/

If you recent upgraded to Firefox 24, disable any Norton extensions, as there currently is a severe compatibility problem (documented in other threads). Because Firefox is sensitive to graphics driver incompatibilities, you also should try disabling hardware acceleration.

I didn't submit any crash still now. I don't want complicate my free time. The easiest is to use the chrome or Safari or ... About your idea it is possible I do that. The last version I have installed is 23.0.1. Is the 24 version available.? I didn't try to install a newest version because I think the problem exists. I don't like Norton or Karspesky. I find these ones are a very agressive software.
