Regarding old Firefox folder that strangely appeared on my desktop---may I delete it? I like a clean house. Did not read where anyone asked that question and got a specific answer. It has been there since March 10th, according to the properties button. I just noticed it. But I do not want to delete anything where I may lose extensions or something else. If it is just a backup, can't I just get rid of it. I would not know what to do with it anyway.

If you haven't noticed any data missing after your Reset, then you could delete that folder, but I think it would be better to archive it somewhere where it won't bother you. Maybe create a year-end review folder of stuff you'll flush on New Year's Eve if you haven't needed it by then.

This folder is created by the Firefox "Reset" feature. It contains your old settings files from before the reset. Do you recall anything odd happening around that date?

I had a strange search toolbar appear and tried to get rid of it. It wouldn't allow Firefox to do a search in Google, even though that was my home page. It is working now. May have hit something in trying to fix that. So can I get rid of that folder?

If you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some of your data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data).

It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but always be cautious to avoid carrying over the problem.
