The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

What's the error are you getting..

If you can provide the screenshot of that.

Are you using any Add-ons like Adsblock

i simple get a black screen , i've uploaded an image of a random page from dailymotion.com, two things to note in the screenshot, i) when i right click on the video , i get the drop down menu as seen in the screenshot instead of the usual drop down menu of flash , and secondly , below the video the text seems to be overlapping that sounds very strange, and for the adons , i've got another screenshot

Please provide the screenshot of Extensions. Check that whether you installed any ads block extension. if so, disable and restart your firefox and check it out..

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

tried the safe mode option earlier too, i did that now , started in safe mode, but even after starting the firefox in safe mode the plugins were enabled,,, i disabled all the plugins manually , then i enabled shockwave flash only to play a video , but still the same result, just one improvement thought, when i right click on the video , now i get the usual flash drop down menu which shows gloabas settings , settings and about about flash. but the video still doesn't start at all, and by the way i have tried these tips on three different computers but all show the same results.

Were you able to disable hardware acceleration in the Flash player and possibly also to disable protected mode?

  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Did you try other Flash player versions?

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later (doesn't apply to XP)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
  • downgrade the Flash player to version 10.3 or 11.2

None of this works. Fix the problem, will ya please!
