Google Chrome is FAST,,This is SLOW, however I hHAVE to use you or IE for my college courses I need speed for my classes

I have been using Google Chrome IT IS FAST. Unfortunately my college requires IE or Firefox. IE was the worst, Firefox is a close second on how SLOW it loads and it is making my college experience online a nightmare. I have Windows XP it is not the newest computer but with Google Chrome I never had to wait for my pages to load. I would like to know how to correct this and why a site said my browser version did not support the page? I downloaded the NEWEST VERSION??????????
