Why am I suddenly unable to access the amazon.com website?

I have often accessed the Amazon.com website using Firefox. Starting yesterday, I have been unable to do that. When I enter www.amazon.com in the Location Bar, nothing happens - and I mean NOTHING. No error message, no activity - nothing. It is as though I had never entered the URL at all. I am still able to access the Amazon website using IE, but not Firefox. On the other hand, I am able to access some pages of the Amazon website using Firefox if I click on the URL for a previously visited Amazon page that appears in View All History. What in heaven's name is going on?
