Firefox 4 acts like I am using a french keyboard. In all other applications the keyboard behaves like US-English. Can I fix this?

In other applications, the keys type the letters/symbols as shown on my keyboard (US-English). In Firefox, the keys appear to default to a French type lay-out e.g. shift / shows an E with a sign over it rather than a ?
