When I "boot up" my windows XP computer -SOMETIMES ASK.com shows up as my default home page in Firefox - I am technical enought to remove it by clicking "most visited" and deleting the page for ASK - and I delete all the cookies - SIXTEEN of them I open windows control panel, select add/remove programs - ASK is NOT there - for the rest of the day NO WEBSITE I visit gives me any info about installaing ASK on my computer - I think I have finally OUTWITTED ASK.COM - even do another shutdown/restart - may not have ask for a day or two - but just when I think its goine forewver - IT COMES BACK - today iits back and I decided to ask you why firefox lets this happen - I have found a phone number for ASK and will be calling them today - I suspect they won't talk to me because its apparent they're just like MALWARE - secretly sneaking into my computer on the coattails of something else - why can't this kind of crap be stopped - is there some time of INTERNET STANDARDS and AGENCY where I can report this ?

Have you checked the setting for the home page - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

It may have changed various preferences in Firefox, for details of things to check see this post at MozillaZine - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=5069645#p5069645
