How do I stop links in pages loaded in the sidebar from opening in a new tab, and open in the sidebar instead?

When I bookmark a page and select load in the sidebar on the properties context menu the page loads links in a tab instead of loading in the sidebar. How do I load a page in the sidebar and force links to open in the sidebar?
