Firefox 3.6.8 in Blackboard: No Subject Line in Discussions

My university uses: Blackboard Learning System - CE Enterprise License (Release CE 8.0.4) [18.0.4.54]

1. With the previous version of Firefox, Bb messaged that the browser is not compatible with my university's version of Bb even though the browser check was successful. I had to compose messages using html in Discussions (not good!), so...

2. I updated to Firefox 3.6.8 and now when I post messages to discussion, I am unable to change the subject line.

Any work around?
