What happens when you try to submit a search through Firefox's address bar? For example:

  • Nothing, acts as though you didn't press Enter or click the arrow button
  • Error page -- please copy/paste the text of the error into a reply here (at https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1411874 not by email)

Restart Firefox: Sometimes, simply restarting Firefox can fix the issue.

Clear your cache and cookies: Clearing your cache and cookies can help resolve issues with the search bar not working. To do this, go to the Firefox menu and click on "Preferences" (on a Mac) or "Options" (on Windows). Then click on "Privacy & Security" and scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section. Click on "Clear Data" and check the boxes next to "Cookies and Site Data" and "Cached Web Content." Click "Clear."

Disable add-ons: Sometimes, add-ons can cause issues with the search bar. To disable add-ons, go to the Firefox menu and click on "Add-ons" (on a Mac) or "Add-ons Manager" (on Windows). Then click on "Extensions" and disable any add-ons that you think might be causing the issue.

Refresh Firefox: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to refresh Firefox. This will restore Firefox to its default settings, which can help resolve issues with the search bar not working. To refresh Firefox, go to the Firefox menu and click on "Help" (on a Mac) or "Help Menu" (on Windows). Then click on "Troubleshooting Information" and click on the "Refresh Firefox" button.

If none of these solutions work, you may want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.
