Dear Firefox Team, since updating, I've been enjoying the new Firefox View function. Sadly, as I'm using a few tweaks here and there (vertical tree tabs, modified chrome.css to remove horizontal tabs, etc.), its not visible at the place where it originally belongs. Because of that I'm searching for a way to include it in my workflow. To do this, I've made it my Homepage, and now, I'm trying to change it to my NewTab page as well. I find it more useful than clicking on a random website. I have tried to achieve this with addons and inside about:config; but as you know, "about:newtaburl" has been removed a long time ago.

Do you have an Idea how I could achieve this, or do you think it would be possible to create an option to this in a future release?

Thank you for reading my message, who knows maybe I can give you an Idea

This Firefox View button is customizable and thus can be moved to the Navigation Toolbar or the overflow area.

You can edit browser.uiCustomization.state and move "firefox-view-button" from the "TabsToolbar":[] array to the "widget-overflow-fixed-list":[] array or to the "nav-bar":[] array or use Troubleshoot Mode to have the Tab bar visible.

  • about:config => browser.uiCustomization.state
{"placements":{"widget-overflow-fixed-list":[],"nav-bar":["back-button","forward-button","stop-reload-button","customizableui-special-spring1","urlbar-container","customizableui-special-spring2","save-to-pocket-button","downloads-button","fxa-toolbar-menu-button"],"toolbar-menubar":["menubar-items"],"TabsToolbar":["firefox-view-button","tabbrowser-tabs","new-tab-button","alltabs-button"],"PersonalToolbar":["personal-bookmarks"]},"seen":["save-to-pocket-button","developer-button"],"dirtyAreaCache":[],"currentVersion":18,"newElementCount":2}
