search/address bar issue

Every time I type in the search/address bar this is what happens. For some reason what ever I am searching gets http://whatever added behind it. I use Linux (various distro's) and windows, they all seem to do it. How do I stop firefox from doing this.

Every time I type in the search/address bar this is what happens. For some reason what ever I am searching gets http://whatever added behind it. I use Linux (various distro's) and windows, they all seem to do it. How do I stop firefox from doing this.
