If I were to employ a VPN, and there for change computers IP address, would it mean I lose my log in's to various web sites that I was logged into before I employed the VPN? Being my computer is now a stranger so to speak to web sites that I visited before hand. Or, do I have it all wrong? Can someone help and explain? Thank you.

What reason do you have for using a VPN as it wouldn't make sense to keep using the same cookies as you had/had used in a regular session ? A different IP might not make a difference for a server, but sending the same session ID might make the server still recognize you or might invalidate the session ID cookie as it was linked to another IP requiring to login again. Note that you would have to trust the VPN if you use it to login to important websites.
