As a member of the American Sociologial Association I have the ability to download PDF copies of ASA journal articles. Firefox simply will not work. So I switch to Safri and it works fine. I assume that Firefox security protections or something is blocking me. I cannot find any information in support for this problem. In Firefox I go in circles between this screen (attached) and logging into ASA. In Safari I download the article without this problem.

Can you direct me to a trouble shooting guide so that I know what to turn off when I want to download the articles without having to switch to Safari?

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

There is a change in Firefox 96 related to cookies and insecure sites.

As a workaround for now you can modify this pref on the about:config page to revert this change.

  • about:config => network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
