"Show more bookmarks" menu background is now white after update 92.0

Hi so my problem is that after the 92.0 update wen i click on "show more bookmarks" my bookmarks are showing on a white background instead of a blacked one since i am running Dark Fox theme so i am not sure if this is a bug or is there a way to change that everything was fine before the update thx.

Hi

The background to menus is a feature of the theme you have installed (something I know from themes I have made).

If the theme you are using does not have a menu background you like, you can change to a different background or use the Firefox Color add-on to make your own.

A theme author can control many more aspects of the UI colors, but I'm not sure about those toolbar drop-downs. The Dark Fox theme (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/dark-fox-18066/) pre-dated the changes in Firefox 89 by a couple of years, so the author surely didn't anticipate the major changes that were coming. Someone could put together an updated version of the theme and see whether it's possible to get all the colors back under control.

I also lost the grey background color (and bookmarks are now further apart). I added the add-on Firefox Color, and it looks like changing "popup background color" might work, but I can't seem to implement this with existing Firefox themes. Looks like you have to choose a new theme, and laboriously change offending colors to replicate Firefox defaults except for Popup color.

Regarding the spacing...

Currently, there is no built-in way to tighten up the spacing. Making that possible is one of the most popular ideas on Mozilla's new "ideas" site: https://mozilla.crowdicity.com/post/720482

There is work under way to tighten up the bookmark menus that drop from the main and bookmarks toolbar. In Firefox 93 (next release), the optional Compact density setting will do that. Here's a preview from the "Developer Edition" (based on the beta test version of Firefox 93):

However, Firefox 93 isn't scheduled to release until early October.

Until then, what support volunteers can suggest is limited...

Unofficial Community-Supported Workaround

Firefox users can modify the user interface of the browser using custom style rules. This involves setting up a userChrome.css file. If this is your first time, make sure to set aside 10 quiet minutes to work through it.

DISCLAIMER: modifications made through a userChrome.css file often stop working as Firefox evolves in new releases, and occasionally "breaks" the interface in serious ways. You can (re)start Firefox in its Troubleshoot Mode to bypass the userChrome.css file so you can get Firefox running, and then edit or remove the file as needed.
