Tab detach no longer working?

When I'm working, I usually like to have two windows open using screen partitions. I frequently will drag a tab to another window or create a new window by dragging a tab to an empty space on my screen. Sometime in the last couple weeks, I noticed that this no longer works for me. I checked about:config in the address bar, and tab detach was still set to true. Does anyone know what might be going on and how I can fix this?

Sorry, I forgot to include this and am unable/ can't figure out how to edit my initial post, but I'm using Windows 10, if it makes any difference.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
