Hi Forum Folke,

I keep having issues with Firefox (84.0.2) when trying to make online purchases... the dialog window (PayPal or whatever) that should pop up doesn't. The purchase process stalls because the next step doesn't happen. I have to use Chrome to make the purchase instead. This didn't happen until the last upgrade, now it's a frequent problem. Doesn't happen on all sites or with all vendors, but often enough to be a headache.

Since this is a 64-bit browser, should I be using the 64-bit version of Java, or does it not make any difference? If it does (or might) make a difference, how do I tell FireFox to use the 64-bit version (installed in the programsx86/Java/32-bit directory)?

Thanks for your help!

We are in a 64bit world. Have you tried the process in safe mode. Something is being blocked. It works for me. see screenshot

Hi jonzn4SUSE,

Haven't had trouble with purchasing directly from a vendor (like amazon)... problem happens when I have to use PayPal, and mostly when there's a pop-up window that takes me to paypal (Steam is a culprit here). I've had trouble with ebay before, too... all good right up to the point where I'm expecting to see a "complete purchase" or "confirm purchase" button, and it just isn't there.

If I then do the same thing with Chrome, it goes through just fine.

It worked fine, until one day it suddenly didn't. I can't say for sure if this was immediately after an update or not, but that's usually when I run into most of my problems; something updates, and one thing gets better, but something else gets broken.

I'll bear that in mind next time I'm on Steam; will opening an "incognito window" work the same as safe mode? And how does one open FireFox in safe mode, anyway? I see no option for that in the menu...

Kind of a pain to have to start it up in "limp-home mode" to get it to do something it's always done without problem, especially when "the other guy" is having no issues at all, don't you think?

Firefox safe mode: Click the menu button menu , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled…. Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.
