how do I turn off Pocket on the new tab page?

I have disabled Pocket in the options; I have turned off all Pocket-related options in about:config; I have repeatedly clicked on the three-dot menu next to the "Recommended by Pocket" section of the new tab page. It is still there when I open a new tab. How can I remove it?
