Is there a way to prevent Firefox from transferring a tab to a new window if you slide it down accidentally which I do all the time.

I don't want this feature, I never asked for it.

How do I disable it.

Chosen solution

For Firefox 74.0 and above: Tabs tear-off can be disabled from `about:config` starting from Firefox 74.0. Go to about:config, look up `browser.tabs.allowTabDetach`, and set its value to `false`.

For Firefox 73.x and below: This has been answered here before https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1109029

Although the add-on that disables the tab tear-off mentioned in that answer isn't available anymore, there are other working add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disable-tab-detach-2/
