I've tried with and without add-ons and it never works. Chrome always works. Here's and example Spotwalla track. You're supposed to see a track and a map.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thanks Fred. That's what I meant by "with and without add ons"...safe mode.

If someone else says the example link works or doesn't work for them, that would help.

If someone else says the example link works . . .

Please provide a public link (no password) that we can check out. No Personal Information Please !

Is the screenshot you attached from Firefox or from another browser ?

Can you attach a screenshot that shows what you see in Firefox ?

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required) that shows what you see in Firefox ?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows an highlighted shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more details and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console what content is blocked.

Hmm, not sure why the link I included in my original post is gone. Maybe I forgot to paste it.

403 Error The spotwalla forum shows several people with the same issue.

Seems to be working fine here in Firefox 72.0.1.

In some cases you get a forbidden response because third-party content is blocked. A cookie allow exception for involved domains can help in such a case or temporarily allow all third-party cookies and check what cookies get created.

What OS are you using? I'm still on Windows 7.

I changed the protections to 'custom' and unchecked everything and it didn't change anything.

From what I understand, spotwalla/mapbox have configured the system so that if someone other than spotwalla tries to use the API, that will generate the 403. So one theory would be that my Firefox 72.0.1 is making mapbox "think" that it's not spotwalla making the call.

When I paste this link into the address bar, it returns "Forbidden":

https://api.mapbox.com/v4/mapbox.mapbox-streets-v8,mapbox.mapbox-terrain-v2.json?secure&access_token=pk.eyJ1IjoiZGF3YWxsYSIsImEiOiJjanMzYW1iNzAwMG11NDRueXh6YWhuMzIyIn0.rmAwF2N458TwCH1OrnRBXA

Pasting the same thing into Chrome, I get a bage of JSON formatted text.

Thanks for the additional idea. I don't quite see the logic in why a private window would work any better than a normal window, but it was easy enough to test. Unfortunately it failed in the same way.

No problem here on Windows 10 (Firefox 72.0.1) :

Thanks for the continued analysis. That 'streets...' one is the one that returns the 403 refused for me.
