there used to be a bar with an x in the left corner where did it go '

it was where you could see the things such a as script Css etc

In google.com type in your question and be sure to add the OS that you are using in order for the engine to tell which OS that you are talking about and the answer will be at either the the top or somewhere else on the page, just click on that and the answer will be right there.

However, there is a good chance that this is an add-on feature, if so, click on this link "https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/", from there do a search for "Status Bar" and choose the right one.

The Status bar is no longer part of Firefox. In Firefox 56 and older you could use the Classic Theme Restorer extension to get a Status bar, but you can no longer run Legacy extensions in current Firefox releases.

I thought it might be an add-on extension for Firefox, but thanks for the heads up on that.
