The update to bookmarks is totally counterintuitive. It now takes twice the number of clicks to get to frequently used bookmarks. Why?

I assume you are referring to the Library function that was introduced a while ago? I'm not a fan of that feature either.

Fortunately, you can customize the toolbar to have the old Bookmarks Menu button back on the toolbar instead. See Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars for more information.
