We are now 5 years into the epitaph of Adobe Flash as a web browser Plugin. As of now "the ball lies in Adobe court", when they "pull the switch on Flash" all the current browsers out there are prepared for running the new, Flash replacement games HTML5, if such exists now for what you are playing.

HTML 5 is "native" to all current web browsers, an industry wide process to eliminate the need for "Plugins" which have been notorious for NOT getting updated in a timely fashion as exploits are reported for each different Plugin a web browser might need.

It is incumbent upon the "games suppliers" that use or need Flash to come up with modified or new game versions that with using HTML5.

Where is the parent lock coming from? Firefox doesn't have a built-in parental control feature. See next reply.

Oh sorry, you mean the parent.lock file that is created while a profile is in use? I don't think so.

why is it needed

The parent.lock file is used to prevent different instances of Firefox from using the same profile folder at the same time. Presumably bad things happened before they instituted the lock file, so now they have a lock file. I don't know what those bad things were. You could research that.

Current Firefox releases keep the lock file and check its time stamp to see if there are multiple startup failures with in a short time and then offer safe mode.
