If you are using the default Firefox homepage (about:home), this will automatically adjust to a dark color scheme if you have properly enabled dark mode.

To enable dark mode, make sure that you select it from the list of themes in Firefox.

If you have set a custom homepage, Firefox has little control over this. Unfortunately, most websites define their own color scheme, so setting dark mode in Firefox will have little control over what a website chooses to display.

Hope this helps.

YES and NO, thnx, worked and then didn't BUT : have found BETTER WAY TO SOLVE IT : set the BACKGROUND COLOR TO GREY OR SOME OTHER COLOR IN THE COLOR SETTINGS, WHERE YOU HAVE FOUR SQUARES TO CHOOSE COLORS FOR. CHANGE THE WHIT TO A COLOR FROM THE COLOR PANEL AND VOILA. NICE AND GREY NOW !!!!!!!!!!! THNX FOR YOUR HELP !!!!!!!! tell others !!!!!!!! xxxxxxx

Also a choice for DARK setting for apps, in the SETTINGS page for WINDOWS, account settings, background etc. The SETTINGS page was also glaringly white before, now black. GREAT. SOLVED.

Are you using setups other then the browser defaults? Like userChrome.css edits to change the browser itself? And screenshot of the problem would help as well.

thnx wesley, westend; slowly getting there, thnx for yr informed advice, I have NO idea :-) My solution of using DARK GLASSES, READING GLASSES +2 is ALSO EXCELLENT, USE THAT OCCASIONALLY TOO. I use a THEME on FF so that complicates things, but now that I have also darkened the WINDOWS SETTINGS PAGE I'm happy. The GREY BACKGROUND SETTINGS in FF are excellent although it hides some stuff, but am content. Thnx again. xxx
