unable to acces my youtube channel as myself, only as a visitor. It has been running as a temp account for a long time and worked until I CCleaned my computer last night. Now it says that my account can't be found, however the channel is functional. How can I get back in to edit my videos? I'm a technophobe and really have no idea about technical data. Same for me as driving a car, as long as it works I can drive it. once something goes wrong I'm at a total loss. All that data stuff that pops up under 'trouble shooting info' does not mean a dickiebird to me. I doubt I'll be able to give you more info than this unless you can tell me where exactly i can find it (meaning telling me which button I have to push and what the screen is supposed to look like) I'm 55 years old, do you think that's one of my problems?

Sounds like you got security issues causing your login issues.

We do not recommend using 3rd party programs to clean Firefox as the browser can clean itself. Also, needed files are known to be lost or corrupted.
Use these links to create a new profile. Use this new profile as is. Is the problem still there?

Hi FredMcD, thanks for posting some solutions to my problem. I tried to get on with what they suggest and I'm hopelessly stuck as I haven't got a clue what you/the suggestions are talking about. I'm a total technophobe and it is a bit like teaching me car mechanics over the phone. Except that I think with car mechanics I may have a chance as long as there are no computers involved. I can't even find the first step that is advocated in the links. There is a 'needs more information' tick box underneath this comment box. i don't think I need more information, I think I need someone to hold my hand totally in this process. :-(

Hi FredMcD, I already have problems understanding what the profile folder is, who created the first one as it wasn't me, or at least I can't remember. Then I don't understand why I can check into my youtube channel as a guest as much as I like but can't get into my channel as myself. Obviously the channel is still around but the channel address fxxxxxxxn.net@gxxxxxxt.com doesn't get recognised at all by my google thingie whatever it is when I try to check in. The next thing I'm having problems with is when I click on the links you sent me they tell me to go to somewhere and I can't find it. I'm honestly totally helpless with this one.
A profile is created automatically for each user account during installation. Any changes make (settings,add-ons . . . . ) is recorded into the profile. When Firefox is started, it accesses the profile.
As to the problem,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?
While you are in safe mode;
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Fred, where do you live? I think you may have realised by now that you are dealing with a total ignoramus here and may have to come to where I live to hold my hand. Isn't starting Firefox in safe mode too late now? My log in into my channel hasn't been working since before we first started this sad dialogue (sad from my side, not yours, you look like you could survive in a digital world, I'm dying a slow and embarrassing death here). I must look into it during the day, it is after midnight here now so my addled brain totally isn't up to the job. But I can tell you, if you ever get me to get this to work again you'll get the digial nobel prize.
Hi freddy.vonrabenau, some years ago, your YouTube account probably got linked to a Google (Gmail) account. Can you log into your Gmail account and then switch over to YouTube to see whether that lets you in?
jscher2000, When i do that it gets me into another youtube account that i started a few years ago but never used. My account that I can't access comes up on the list of other options for accounts to log into but when i click on it it says that it can't be found
I don't suppose it works if you try Safari? I guess it depends on whether you were recently logged into that account on Safari so it would still have the cookie that keeps you logged in.

Hello FredMcD, I have just added a new profile but I'm not sure how to add my address which the computer can't find (that used to let me into my youtube channel) (imagine a brain explosion emoji here) Could it be a different problem?

Hi FredMcD, yes, I have tried with the address that used to get me in but it can't be found, that's the message I'm getting. Here is my question: why is my youtube channel still fully functional and i can use it was a visitor? do you have a private contact so i can ask you a couple of questions without putting everything into the public domain?
We've done all we can, I suggest you contact YouTube support.

FredMcD, there are a few things that I'm still not clear about. to log into my google account I use an email address. Before I cleaned my computer I was able to change from the account that I'm not really using but that now seems to come up all the time to my other youtube channel by selecting my temp account details from a menu that comes up when I press 'change accounts' or 'add an acocunt' or something like that. The details still come up but when i try to log in I'm told that the address can't be found. question 1: how is this address linked to a profile and why is it suggested that creating a new profile might help? question 2: if my temp account can't be found why does the channel still run? Sorry to be a pain...
