Firefox will not start after version upgrade
Running Mint-17.2 on i586 on linux-x86 I need help with Crash ID: bp-5de8b513-6475-4769-887d-7c2b10180626 which is the latest attempt today running in debugger.

Or Crash ID: bp-f2765a0b-0b41-4a8f-839c-3978a0180626 only running -safe-mode Program immediately shows crash dialog, will not progress any further. This started last October with version 54 but nobody contacted me as requested in the crash report. So maybe with an account set up I'll get farther now? :)
I am accessing this web page by non-firefox program. Firefox is totally broken somehow.

Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu
and click the close button 
).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Okay. from Synaptic Package Manager, I selected firefox, and chose first Reinstallation. No change. Next I chose Complete Removal, and then Install.
The package file is: -rw-r--r-- 1 root 45540364 2018-06-09 02:47 /var/cache/apt/archives/firefox_60.0.2+linuxmint1+rosa_i386.deb
No change. Newest Crash ID: bp-157e44b0-e8f4-4c75-af4d-721f70180626

If I instead download the latest tarball directly, and extract the files. This results: $ ./firefox -safe-mode This browser version requires a processor with the SSE2 instruction set extension. You may be able to obtain a version that does not require SSE2 from your Linux distribution.

Have you tried installing Firefox directly from Mozilla instead of through a package manager? The files from the package manager could be damaged for whatever reason.
If this doesn't work or if you've already tried this, are you able to get Firefox to open by triggering Firefox Safe Mode?
I edited my answer as I just tried that, then noticed you're fast. Do you have a version that does not require SSE2 ?
No need to answer that, I found firefox-52.9.0esr.tar.bz2
But is this the same problem, as the package version did not say much about why it was crashing, which would REALLY REALLY HELP if it were to give a useful error message, that would've avoided this mess.
