I am having trouble with opening web pages that I always use. Since the last two updates of Firefox I cannot open any web pages except youtube and amazon. Can anyone shed any light on this or is anyone experiencing the same problem? Any help will be appreciated.

What is the exact error message?

Hi FredMcD, The message that I get is that the web page is un secure. This is happening with every web page that I have previously opened, even my bank page. Does this help?

NO ! My post says programs like them intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Check the information in the links.

Hi FredMcD,

Very sorry about reading your reply wrong, I am now going down the links that you sent and I will get back to you when I have read them all.

What protection programs are you using? Also, check your computer's clock and date.

Hi Fred McD,

I have Windows Defender, now turned off. BlueHell firewall, now turned off. And just Firefox now. I had to turn them off to get onto this page.

As for the computer clock, I have done this and that was OK.

I have now read everyone of the links and deciding which is the best thing to try first.

Bluehell firewall is listed as not compatible for Firefox 57+ So ya, mega issues if using a unsupported firewall. As well what I read I would not trust it.

Windows Defender is not the best to use, can try AVG free.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi Pkshadow, Thanks for that, I will download AVG once I have sorted the other problems out. I know that is it not good to not have protection, but if something is running. that I have no knowledge of, then all hell will break loose and I will chuck this laptop out the window ha ha.

I know the feeling (wanting to chuck your laptop out the window   ....)

Personal opinion (and not just mine), but with Windows Defender and the latest version of Firefox you're best off.

Hi Happy21, Thank you for those links, I can see by those that I have been thinking right about anti viruses. Damned things make more problems than anything, and I am pretty sure that is what happened with my problem. Since closing BlueHell and Defender down, things have settled down somewhat, so I will allow Defender again and see what happens. LAST CHANCE FOR THIS LAPTOP, then maybe FORGOODNESSSAKE can become calm again ha ha

Hi Happy112,

Well seeing as I am happier now, I decided to get shot of the fed up name and went for a happier name.

As I said, I have appreciated all the help you guys have given me and the laptop has survived going through the window :-)
