Why does T'Bird (mostly) time out when sending messages?
To be clear, I have no problem whatsoever receiving messages, and occasionally, when I send messages they leave promptly. Most of the time, unfortunately, sending a message fails, almost always resulting in a "time-out" error. I have checked all the settings, (which are set at default -- see attached images), deleted the password, and changed firewall settings. None of this has worked.
I should also mention that I use a VPN (Private Internet Access), but I don't see how this would contribute to the problem. I'm using Hotmail as the webmail service and Chrome as the browser.
