If you do a search on my site the Google results will come up but not the actual search results from my website. I think this only started with the new Firefox. https://www.onlinecomputertips.com/

The question mark is where local search results come up in other browsers.

I took a screenshot. How does the page look like to you? https://screenshots.firefox.com/9TcpMkBpPcY8vY9Y/www.onlinecomputertips.com

Suggestion: The writing is very faint. Please enlarge it a bit and use a darker color.

I dont know why it makes the Google search results faint too but the site search is supposed to come up below the Google ads which I underlined.

I searched for malware. Try the same search. Is it the same as mine?

Ive tried it on other computers and it does the same thing so it must be something with Firefox itself. Mine looks just like yours.

The Web Console shows this error message:

  • TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary1058 is not a function

The Network Monitor shows a server response in JSON format that includes the results that show in your screenshot

So Google send the results, but Firefox isn't able to parse this and display this properly.

Any idea why that would be?

When run your site through the W3C Html checker get a no handshake error https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.onlinecomputertips.com%2F

And the same with CSS https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.onlinecomputertips.com%2F&profile=css3&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

Even though I can bring the site up.

Please see search for : I/O Error: handshake alert: unrecognized_name

https://www.google.ca/search?q=I%2FO+Error%3A+handshake+alert%3A+unrecognized_name&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=GvMlWsfyMY6C-gSC546QAw

I would think this is the reason of Search error. You should go to your Google Webmaster Tools Account and submit the site and see if Google themselves gives any errors for you there.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I just got an SSL cert for it the other day so do you think the handshake errors are related to that? It had this problem with the search before the cert too.

I would think so, especially if had problems before. It maybe something in the DNS, not sure.

Did you check your Google Webmaster Tools for any information it may give in Site Errors ?

I forwarded this thread to my brother who does SEO for a living (and for me) to see if there are some things he can check.

Hello, do you have this problem again? I just checked your website and everything looks good to me. https://screenshots.firefox.com/kVdzZh7y8g4eSwbW/www.onlinecomputertips.com

Nothing was changed and its still not working for me. You are using the newest Firefox I assume?

My brother said that Firefox got rid of Google as their default search engine and maybe when we have Google search enabled it doesn't like it? My other site doesn't have Google search enabled and its the same Joomla type site and it works.

That only means that Google is no longer the primary with a newly installed browser. Google is still there. You can, thru about:preferences#search, pick any engine you want as the primary. You can also install other engines and pick one of them.

The weird thing is that I can't make it work with searching for microsoft in Firefox 57, but if I search for firefox then it shows the results if I refresh the page (Ctrl+F5).

That doesn't happen for me.

My search engine was set to Google but I never did that at least with the new version of Firefox so maybe it remembered from the previous version.

We got another report of a website that uses the same Google CSE (gcse) API and where this same problem occurred as well. In this case I sometimes got results when I clicked the Search button and sometimes not, so I tried the same with your website and there it behaves the same way when I click the search icon.

  • /questions/1196437 I can't figure out why the Google search on my Web site works on other browsers but not when using Firefox.

I read through that thread and it doesn't appear to be any real solution to the problem. I'm not a developer so I don't get some of the stuff they are talking about there but it sure would be nice to get it fixed!

Do you have a site certificate for HTTPS ? If so it is not working. When google your site with the address above google does not find it and asks if want HTTP
