This web site will not work and I do not know why http://speed.bne.aussiebroadband.com.au/

more options

I have tried loading that page with addons disabled and still I cannot run the speed test at that web site and I have to use it to troubleshoot my internet. Had another web page that did not work too but can't begin to explain it. It was a Facebook page that had a button to click to get a response and I was not getting the correct response it was just sending me to another web site instead of working like it should. That page has sense been taken down so I cannot link it here. I am so frustrated with Firefox that I am very close to changing to Chrome now. That aussiebroadband link works in chrome for me. It might be related to flash but I have installed flash on my Mac and still it does not work and I enabled flash on that web site too.

Chosen solution

It might have been an add on or might have been something else. I re-enabled "Theme Font and size changer" which was the add-on which was giving me java errors before and the speed test page is still working. I just know that my screen went crazy when I was working with that add on so I removed it then the speed test page was working. But my screen was still changed in a way that was not pleasant. So I reinstalled "Theme Font and size changer" and fiddled with other tab add-ons enabling and disabling and finding new ones. My browser is not looking as good as I had it before but that page is now loading properly for me so I suppose somehow the computer gods have solved my issue. though created a few other minor ones along the way.

In the header of your question you posted the URL as 'http' instead of 'https' ....... It gave me the same message FredMcD got.

What happens when you fill out the boxes at the bottom of that page  ?

Have you tried disabling your Avast Online Security to see if that will make a difference  ?

I copied and pasted so not sure why the s was not there... not sure what boxes your talking about. If you go to the very very bottom left you see speed test that is the link I am having trouble with. If you talking about filling out if I am NBN ready that was done long ago and not related to my current problem

You said "it is located at the bottom of this page says speedtest "

And that 'NBN' is what I get at the bottom of that page (and the possibility to start a chat) ....... I must be missing something (sorry  !)

But what about disabling Avast Online Security to see if that will make a difference  ?

Found it  ! Had to scroll even further down and there it was under 'Home' ..... Clicked on it and it gave me that 'Forbidden' message again.

What happens when you click on it  ?

nothing - it looks like the picture but a flash type pic should come up showing it running the test and giving results.. are you in the US? that may be why your forbidden.

I disabled all the addons and it did not solve it (including avast). I used Chrome and it gave me the same result at first till I unblocked popups and enabled flash. So I am thinking it is a flash issue related to Firefox's new iteration 55.0.3

Thank you for that screenshot  ! Figured out why I get that 'Forbidden' message : because I won't fill out those boxes to see if 'I'm NBN ready'.

If disabling Avast Online Security makes no difference : what if you contacted them - do that live chat for instance  ?

I spoke to them and they thought it was a flash issue but when they realized I was able to add adobe flash and activate it they did not know what else to do.

Yes, you're right about the 'NBN' - neither FredMcD nor I are in Australia.

Even though you say that you've already disabled all add-ons, would you give Firefox in Safe Mode a try anyway (Safe Mode does more than just disable add-ons) :

If Firefox is not running : Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. If Firefox is running : 3-bar menu => ' ? ' (at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Then OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)

Not sure what happened but I was playing with an addon that changed the sized of the text and it gave me a java error so I disabled it then my background went all gray and text very tiny and now that page is working. strange thing is I tested it before with all the addons disabled (going into safe mode 3 x's) and it still was not working. Not sure if something else happened at the same time or what but my screen looks like shit but that speedtest is now working :)

My bet is on that 'Personas Plus' add-on (been causing problems lately).

Well, you got that speedtest working, but now you say that your screen looks like 'bleep' ...... (???)

Yes I just spent the last hour and half redoing everything on my browser.. finally got it almost good enough, but too tired to continue with it for now... added and removed add ons and played with all of them to get the browser comfortable to my eyes again but never did get it like it was before all of this.
