I have been using Vista 32 bit and really would like to keep using it! I am using Firefox 36.0.1 and would like to download Firefox 51 [because I think newer versions of Firefox won't work with Vista]. So can I do this? I really do not want to "upgrade"! Thank you.

First of all, I recommend against using Vista.

It's a nightmare of an OS, vulnerable and buggy, extremely insecure, but that's your call.

This is a reputable website, for all I know, so you can try downloading it from here.

I don't guarantee you it'll work.

Thanks for your response, but I really do like Vista and as a senior citizen, I hate these constant "upgrades", "no longer supported", etc. I look forward to other answers.

The link I gave you allows you to download Firefox 51 as per your request.

The suggestion I gave you is because I'm a security professional, but it's your call, like I said.

Consider it a side note by someone who cares for information security and just label it as paranoia, as I consider myself a professional paranoid :)

Thank you. According to the 52.3.0 description, it is recommended for businesses, but not for the individual user. As I understood the description, constant updates are a pain for businesses with many employees, and that's why it was created. Do you think an old lady like me would be able to use it anyway?

You're young enough to use a forum, so it should be no problem!

The Extended Support Release is the regular Firefox 52 with some extra compatibility features and nearly a year of extra security updates. All Windows XP and Vista users, business and home, were switched to the ESR track when Firefox 52 was released (assuming they were allowing updates).

Of course, there have been changes since Firefox 36 that may affect how your older add-ons work. Let us know if you notice any problems.

Thanx! So how would I do it, simply download Firefox 52 ESR, and my Vista will continue to work?

You can download the installer from this page, close all Firefox windows, then run the installer:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/

It should detect your existing installation and do an upgrade. It may suggest refreshing your profile because it has been so long, but you can skip that step and see how it goes.

Thank you very much, I will try that.
