My"appearance" choice makes it hard to see the open tabs since they are clear. Is there a way to change them from clear to a solid color?

Hi,

Firefox now ships with 3 themes - the default Australis one and a light and dark compact ones. The light one has the active tab coloured in blue. You can select them from about:addons or the hamburger button -> customize

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to customize the appearance.

  • you can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its "Options/Preferences" button on the "Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" page.
  • you can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button -> Customize)

Thanks for the attempt but 2 reasons that doesn't help me. #1 the CTR site itself says after this coming Nov. it won't work any more. #2 I don't want the old tabs---tab on bottom--I was just trying to figure out if we could make them solid instead of clear...my color scheme has white and pewter in it, makes it hard to read the tab headings...just need to make them solid---non-see through (opaque?)

as far as i understand you are not using the default theme but a custom one and want to change it's transparency in which case you'd have to either contact the author or try to diy

bygabyga, Yes to your statement about using a custom theme versus the default. My fav football team. I looked at the default themes and the dark and light ones look good. But I don't want to give up on my Yucs---I mean Bucs. LMBO Thanks for the help and the suggestion to contact the author, I still might do that. For now I worked out a way for each "stripe" of my theme---pewter on top, white and crimson ( 3 horizontal FYI) to highlight the "tab" level (pewter), the address box (white) and the bookmark bar (crimson). Now at least I can see clearly even though it shrinks the site page ever so slightly, 2 maybe 3 lines (bookmark bar height). Thanks again
