You can download the Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And one folder in the profile of each user on the computer.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user folders would not be affected.

Hello Fred,

Thanks for the reply. But when I follow your link, it does not work for me. In my FF 'help' and 'about' it tells me it is version 44.0.2. and that it is up-to-date... If I run Firefox Setup Stub 51.0.1.exe, doesn't that affect my settings, passwords, favorites, add-ons, etc? I really do not want to loose them due to an upgrade... Don't I have to migrate some folders and import them in the newer version or is that being done automatically during the upgrade process? I must say I have been looking for some 'export' function in FF 44.0.2 but did not find any and that worries me.

Greetings,

Ronny

Hello Fred,

In the meantime I upgraded FF by installing the newest version and all settings, bookmarks, etc were automatically transferred to the new version! Thanks for helping me out!

Greetings,
