When can I go back in the web browser with the swipe of a finger?

I am using the Microsoft edge web browser on my surface pro 4 tablet. I enjoy such web browser because you can just swipe your finger to the right when you want to go back to the search results after you have viewed a webpage. Unfortunately it does not allow you to swipe back and forward in the search results however. Having said that I am also using firedox and Mendeley. Medeley does not have a plug-in for the web browser edge. So I am a bit confused as to which web browser I should use by default. When will firefox support swipe on the touch screen?
