THe Trusteer Rapport icon stopped appearing in firefox today. Any ideas?
I have had the icon showing for several years on firefox with no problems. Everything else is working with no problems. The icon is there as usual in IE and googlechrome and the console says it is running normally.

It may well be more important to keep Firefox updated, and use Firefox's Built in security features (Alongside Microsoft's AV & Firewall) than to try to use some of Trusteers products.

Thank you very much. Any idea when Trusteer Rapport will be back on Firefox?

You're quite welcome !
Tried to get an answer from Trusteer Rapport if and when they will support Firefox again, to no avail, I'm afraid ...... (sorry !)
Thank you for your efforts which are much appreciated.

- I updated to firefox50 and now trusteer endpoint wont run. It says firefox not up to date.
Take a look at:
https://www.trusteer.com/en/support/supported-platforms
What have you done?
Define 'you' please ?
If you do decide you need a separate browser for banking that works with Trusteer I am sure they will support the third party Firefox Portable ESR. (It is listed as supported on https://www.trusteer.com/support/supported-platforms )
That is intended for Enterprise customers and built and supported by a third party website but
- It will install easily on Windows
- Or may be run from a Memory stick on Windows
- Installs as a separate independent Firefox Browser
- Does have all critical security updates so it is safer than using Fx48 or Fx49 which are not now supported, and are not now to be considered secure and safe.
- Download & support LINK http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr
Note Those with their own IT department in Enterprise or Educational establishments etc.. should possibly already be using the Mozillla Firefox ESR installs
- See Mozilla Firefox ESR Overview https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

I saw today that the trusteer rapport icon showing protected and unprotected sites has now appeared again in firefox so the relevant software must have been updated. I was just starting to get used to using google chrome.
Hey that is good news.
Thanks for letting us know. Do you know the name and version number of that update, or any IBM/Trusteer link that others should look at or download from ?
My installed programs show firefox 50.0 (x86 en-GB) installed November 19. My trusteer rapport program shows it was updated on October 17 2016. I havent downloaded or done anything - the trusteer green/grey icon simply appeared this morning (UK time) November 23. Maybe trusteer or firefox updated something - I just don't know.
The Trusteer Rapport disappeared again today in firefox at about midday UK time. It had been there earlier in the morning. When I went to login to my bank website, which constantly urges us to use Trusteer, I got a big message telling me to download it. But it is downloaded and working OK on google chrome and internet explorer. Does anyone have any thoughts - maybe it will just reappear like it did before??
Sorry you are having problems again. (It may be a bit early to know yet if a lot of other Trusteer users have similar problems).
I think you will need to contact your Bank and Trusteer for a proper explanation. It may also be worth noting when I last used Trusteer for UK banking transactions I did discover transactions would be handled by Firefox without any problems if I did not use the Trusteer software. (Possibly some transactions then involved an additional verification step )
Firefox will still be the same major version, as when you first asked this question, and now the current Firefox Release 50 is listed as being supported on Trusteer's support site:
I presume that is the correct support site and applicable Software.
Mozilla Firefox 48, 49, 50 (32bit) Mozilla Firefox ESR 38.7, 38.8, 45.0
( At least as long as you do not upgrade to 64 bit Firefox - but most Windows users do not do that.) I suppose it may be that Trusteer Rapport have changed the software on your computer, without you noticing, and maybe it again is not supporting Firefox despite what their support site says.
I had previously suggested you may wish to try Firefox ESR if Trusteer Rapport was slow in releasing a version suitable for the current Firefox, release but either they have not updsted their support document or there is a posibility they did not update their support as the document lists esr 45.0 as being supported but business users will be on esr 45.5.1 by now.
INCIDENTALLY
It might be interesting to know specifically what this version of Trusteer does that is of benefit to the customer, rather than being a money earner for the bank. And what it does to benefit security that Firefox is not able to do. I somehow doubt your Banks technical experts will be in a rush to try to explain that. You could ask them and preferabky ask them to publicly post that information.
The FAQs on the support site seem rather vague as to exactly what and how protection is provided. If you were having to pay cash for a licence to use this product you woukd probably wish to see details of its features and specifications.
Thank you very much for your very helpful reply. Bizarrely, within the past 30 minutes (21.21 UK time) the Trusteer Rapport software has started working again on firefox and the green icon is back. I do not think the banks make any money out of Rapport (IBM seem to do the software) but I think I read somewhere that not having recommended anti-fraud protection might put a question mark over any claims for repayment if there was a fraud loss.
Glad it is working again. Thats the main thing, but it has ti be annoying to have problems with Firefox, and probkems with Banking because of using siftware recimmended by your Bank. I know from the amount of posts on this forum Trusteer software is frequently and repeatedly implicated in troubles with use of Firefox.
Remind me next week I will see if I can get some info about the need to use Trusteer, but I suspect it will not be detrimental to claims as long as you follow ordinary safe practices. Your Bank probably says nowhere that you must use Trusteer. I also strongly suspect the banks get commision from IBM/Trusteer & possibly that influences their recomendations.
You could try asking your bank to clarify some of the points I raised. So I understand the situation as it applies to you perhaps you would be willing to disclose
- What bank is it that you use?
- Have you got a link to their webpage pushing customers to download and inststall Trusteer ?
- Do you use a bank credit card, or a debit card, or both?
Thanks again for your very constructive comments. The message urging me to download Rapport only appeared when I was logging in on firefox during the time yesterday when the icon was not showing. I used google chrome instead, where the icon was there, and the security message did not appear and it is not there today on firefox as the icon is back. However, it was very similar to this one that I saw on hsbc, whom I do not bank with. I do not see how the banks can make money out of trusteer because the download does not cost anything. It seems more likely the banks pay Rapport/IBM, which I see on wikipedia bought the company for a billion $ three years ago. http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/contact-and-support/security-centre/downloads
