Why do file associations get reset after Firefox or Windows updates?
Every month or so, updates are performed on my computer and customized file associations are RESET. For instance, I use Nuance instead of Adobe Acrobat for PDF-related functions, so I set PDF activity under Options > Applications to "Use Nuance Power PDF" but several times - probably 4-5 since I've had Windows 10, those associations get wiped out and instead of a PDF file browsed to on the web opening up with Nuance, it gets automatically downloaded to the default download location - the Firefox default setting. Also, .txt files had originally set to open with Notepad - the very common and Windows default program association - however, when I went into Options today, it was set to open with Excel! No one else uses my PC, so I don't understand why this problem keeps occurring!
Could the Options > Applications default torch please be relayed and maintained by the USER and not updater? Please?
