Upgraded to 47 (had difficulty where normally I don't). Slowed down so slow so I ran Ccleaner (which normally dumps 400 to 500mbs maybe). Now it dumps up to 1500 mbs and I watch it scroll through Internet Explorer - seems like all temp files go through IE as well as Firefox. I tried turning IE off - did not help so I turned it back on. I just increased my internet provider speed from 7 to 12mgs (now with WiFi). On my network I only have my desktop and my one older Kindle. I have watchnet and only see those two items on my network. This is terrible and I have to keep running CCleaner to even use my email. How disappointing. Please, I would appreciate help - how can I roll back to version 46? Thanks so much.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Finally an answer and dilemma solved and I'm back up running normally.

I was able to use Kaspersky malwareprogram which found TWO TROJANS.

After those were cleared Firefox is working well, faster, and video functions no problems at all. The problem with Internet Explorer when running CCleaner and cleaning out more IE files than Firefox even - that is fixed as well.

Thank you FredMd and all for the extraodinary help and patience.

Thank you so much for your response. I am going to try it again and see if there are changes. With this problem it is difficult to actually tell without using it for awhile.

One thing I did not mention first note was difficulty with videos - I added the Firefox App. When videos do not play (usually can hear audio) the only thing that works is a reboot OR Ccleaner dump.

I'm hesitate to even try a rollback to version 46 now. Perhaps if I could just find out how to STOP the same temp files, etc. from being generated through my internet Explorer. After version 47 the amount doubled.

Ok, let me work on this again per your instructions. I appreciate your help.

Opened in Safe Mode - script errors running the video - pdf files open with errors trying to close file. Faster but, I had just dumped with CCleaner so no temp files, etc.

What if I downloaded version 47 again on top of this one? It definitely is the 47 that screwed everything up as I've been using Firefox forever and never had such a thing happen.

Nothing unusual, had to update Adobe Reader and Flash Player due to company updates - added only Apps I used before to Firefox after I tried the refresh on version 47. I am most unhappy. Is this 47 Beta?

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Hi Fred,

Thanks again for your help.

Yikes. Ok, will follow your instructions. I'd like to get it right the first time.

In programs folders (x86) I only see two folders Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service rename both folders to Mozilla Firefox.old ? Mozilla Maintenance Service.old

Want to make sure I get this right.

After reboot run the Registry part only of the Ccleaner only (the scan) ?

Then run the new Firefox installer . . .

and finally remove the two .old folders

That looks okay. The reason to rename the folders instead of just deleting them is; just in case you need something there.

The registry scanner will remove any bad entries. That is why you need to rename or remove the old folders.

Thus, a clean install.

Would you believe it will not let me rename one of the files (mozilla firefox) as it says the folder or a file is open in another program. I can't see what that could be - opened task manager and Firefox is definitely closed. I opened now only to contact you.

Any suggestions, as finishing per your suggestions will not be a clean install.

Thanks

Hi again Fred, Success as far as a clean install. When I rebooted it did finally show the renamed file(s) and the original which I deleted. Then, as instructed I ran the registry scanner and did the install which was quick as a wink (not at all like the first time).

That's encouraging. Will have to use it a bit to see how we fare now.

Then I'll update you and delete the two renamed "old" files.

Appreciate your patience over this simple stuff and your help, bigtime.

Have a great evening.

You would normally only get files in the location used by IE if you use MS plugins like Silverlight in Firefox.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Hi Cor-el and right, I do remember being asked about the Silverlight - that could very well be the answer. If one wants to view the vid one answers yes. LOL

I do see the Silverlight plug and I set to "ask to activate" which should make a difference.

I already see some things which look right now.

Thanks so much for suggesting this - I was trying to figure out why in the world IE would have all those files. Time will tell,

Have a great evening.

Today everything is so much faster as it should be.

Still problems with the video. Doing same thing, audio but, black viewing. Tried both Flash and the HTML5 - both do the same thing unless I run CCleaner.

ran CCL still IE shows 486,000KB dumped and Firefox 386,000KB dumped with a total of 852mb dumped - nothing, no files run showing Chrome ever.

I am back doing what I did in the first place - running the CCleaner more than once a day to be able to view any videos.

Any suggestions I would try them.

Thanks so much.

Thank you Fred, Installing all the Updates right now and already double checking the links you sent for audio/video.

Surely I can find my answer there.

Thanks again.
