user name and passwords not saving

Even with the check in the box to remember, Firefox will not remember user name or password for any web site I log into. It will ask me if I want it to remember, to which I click remember. but it never show's up in my Saved Password List, and it never remembers user name or password.

I have followed the support links and went over in detail multiple times.

This is a new setup, on windows 10 pro and FF 43, Vipre internet security. I did look at vipre but didnt see anything about saving passwords in a browser. Edge, and Chrome will remember them. Just firefox wont. so it dont appear to be an outside force causing the problem.

I tried setting a master password. it remembered that, but didnt change anything. so I removed the master password.

It is possible that there is a problem with key3.db (encryption key) and logins.json (encrypted names and passwords) in Firefox. You can open the logins.json file in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to check its content. Click the "Pretty Print" button to format the file for readability. If there are names and encrypted passwords in logins.json then there is likely a problem with the key3.db file that stores the encryption key. You can rename the key3.db file (key3.db.old) and logins.json file (logins.json.old) or move these files to another folder to make it possible to undo the action. Rename or remove a possible signons.sqlite file (signons.sqlite.old) used by older Firefox versions. You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost. If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed. Otherwise you can rename the files to their previous names (key3.db and logins.json).

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

Reset the logins.json and the Key3.dbf and it seems to be saving them now.
