updated to FF38 on Ubuntu but Tabs, toolbar etc all greatly enlarged, how to shrink them?

The latest ubuntu 12.04 update included Firefox 38 but everything was greatly enlarged and although I can control the zoom levels for website text etc I can find no way to decrease the size of the tabs and address/tool bar. is this possible or must I use the classic view addon?
