when my antivirus downloads it updates I hear the song "Down, down" playing. Down, down, down. it repeats till whatever is being downloaded is done. It does it with other updates like my antispyware, stuff I'm downloading personally, whatever. The first time I heard it, it was creepy. Then I started to watch what was happening when I heard the music. What's going on. My antivirus and other software companies I have products of don't even want to bother to let me ask the question.

Is this something Firefox started? If so, its kinda cool. If not its scary! It's always just this song. I'm familar with it but I don't have it in my music library, So I guess its not rf interference or iTunes misbehaving or I'd get a different selection. My wifi is turned off. I just have the ethernet hardwire connection.

To tell you the truth it isn't Firefox. Although it does sound like a pretty neat idea. Your OS is a Mac so i am not too worried about viruses. Try clearing your cache and cookies. Then check if you dont have strange add-ons/extensions if you want to get rid of it. If all that fails Reset Firefox. Just ask if you need help on that.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Firefox, on it's own, can not do that. An add-on or other program on your system is doing this.

solved the problem, it was a script a geek friend came up with for my computer, he put it on to test it when i brought my mac to him to fix another issue. It's kinda cool actually. doesn't work with safari though. hope he offers it to firefox. he called me to ask if i noticed it. good thing i have my speakers on all the time, my wife shuts speakers off when using this same mac. he showed me where he hid it. he's also found a way to encrypt emails even using gmail which normally won't accept let you send or receive attachments like that.
