Everything is updated. Cookies and cache are cleared when needed. For around 3 weeks the shockwave player crashes with every video I come across, even on Facebook and Tumblr! I cant scroll down without constant pop ups stating it crashed. I am at a loss and have no idea what to do.

Hello,

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

It didn't solve it, though, it did make it last longer between it crashing.

I understand that the video performance improved with less frequent crashes when you disabled hardware acceleration, however it still happens.

Where: Tumbler, Facebook, and youtube. What: Video crashes.

Can you please describe any error messages or what qualities the crash has before it happens?

There are further steps that you can take to improve the quality of the video experience with these steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/adobe-flash-plugin-has-crashed If you update to Firefox 35 there is a new feature that also disables protected mode in the flash plugin that has minimized crashes but may remove a layer of security: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/for.../711010?last=63715#post-63599

I went back from FF37 to 36 and it did fine for a while but 2 days ago FF started hanging every time there is a video or an ad that is a video started again. The error msg is # 2044. I have a slow, rural broadband connection, W7pro 64 bit, hardware accelleration disabled... And IE too has issues wih videos and ads too. They sort of play but are very fuzzy. I am down to only being able to check my email and go to pages with no videos or ads. I checked Shockwave player diagnostic page at Adobe, and it said it had been disabled by FF....
