Internet Explorer opens almost instantly, Firefox takes 5 seconds or more to open. Why?

I have exhausted all solutions suggested. I only have two plug-ins, both are "ask to activate", and I have two extensions, both are disabled. I can only conclude that Firefox is naturally 5 times slower than IE and that there is no way to change it. Or... is there? I can find NO solution on the net that solves this problem. Does anyone else have this experience. Why can't Firefox be as fast as Internet Explorer?
