I installed and update this morning, September 7, 2026, but now all my previously saved bookmarks (prior to September 7, 2026) are not accessible or shown. How do I recover all of them?

I made a change somewhere that caused a total loss of history/open tabs even in my tab manager extension. I can't remember exactly what it was I changed but nothing I have searched here has been helpful in recovering from this. I did not want to bring my profile from home as I am using Firefox here in a work environment. Can someone point me to or explain a step by step method to be able to do this? Nothing I found in searching here has been positive.

I recently made a backup (via the option under Account and sync in the settings), as I was switching to a new OS. Unfortunately, when selecting the backup in the new OS, I am greeted with the error message:

This file isn’t working. Try picking a different file.

According to this, my file is corrupted. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or have I just lost all my data? I no longer have access to the profile files in the original OS.

I am trying to restore my firefox bookmarks and passwords from a back up I saved. I am signed into firefox in my browser, I go to restore back up and firefox restars and my bookmarks appearm but I'm signed out of firefox. When I sign back in, my profiles and bookmarks disappear?

My PC crashed and then upon opening up firefox it forced me to update firefox. Afterwards all windows and tabs disappeared but my browing history is still there. I tried the in-browser restoration but it is greyed out. I tried the session store backup profile data but has no 'previous' or 'back up' files, only 'restore' files that are empty and restore to no tabs or windows. What other ways are possible? It's weird my browsing history anf bookmarks weren't deleted at the same time.

Hi, I've accidentally created a new profile and I totally didn't know what was happening as I've had this internet browser setup for years and didn't even remember creating a profile. That's why I ended up deleting all profiles thinking that's how to get things back to how they were but now everything is gone, years worth of saved bookmarks, passwords etc. It only happened recently and I have not restarted my laptop, not emptied the bin folder etc. Is there any way to recover my profile? I'm on a Mac.

I run normal firefox on linux. Fully up-to-date. Every time I quit the app, it reverts to a version of my profile from a month ago, and loads all the tabs I had open then, and then receives all the tabs that I sent to the device in the interim (~1 month). As I speak, it just caught the 60 or 70 tabs in this window.

I tried changing the name of my profile folder to randomstring.defaultOLD and changed one of the backups to randomstring.default. This didn't change the behavior. I'm still stuck in the loop. I saved my tabs with onetab, because firefox isn't remembering my session anymore. I thought it was something to do with updates, like it only loses its mind upon updates, but that's not true. It thinks it's updating firefox EVERY TIME, because the one time it's loading to 1 month ago it was updating, but I'm 100% sure there are no updates to firefox in my linux. It's just hallucinating.

The articles on restoring from backup are outdated. They say to use an html file. There is no html file. It's just folders for profiles, not html files. HELP!

After a update 154.0.1 and 155.0.1, 64 byt Firefox dod not keep the open tabs once started, but the bookmarks. After searching in Firefox help, neither I could not find a previous bakup folder, before the update data, so I cannot restore the history it manually, so I do not know what to do. Hello, Since this morning after an update of firefox the history is lost and my personal bar where I stored my bookmarks is empty now after applying version 155.0.1 the problem is still alive Help Please

I haven't been able to use my bookmarks now for a few weeks and you keep updating but nothing gets resolve. Years ago MOZILLA was great with not issues but lately is always a problem and sometimes is even blocked. Was going on there?

1- Firefox shows I have windows 10. Not so. I have windows 11 home, version 25H2. This may be problem that causes the issues. 2- Since Update months ago, profiles, bookmarks and passwords disappear constantly only for me to replace manually the bookmarks and passwords to disappear over and over again. Don't need multiple profiles just one that works as in the good old days. Used it for years but cannot find help and ready to delete and just use microsoft edge. Totally out of patience. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Every few days, when I start Firefox, my bookmarks load, but they are non-functional, and the logos to the left of each bookmark name are missing. I can restore previous days sessions, but I lose all of my saved log-ins to frequently visited sites. Why is this happening?

Running Windows 11. Firefox was running at the time the hard drive crashed. When installing FF on the new drive, found the last profile folder set to parent.lock. Since it's the entire folder, I can't see which of the files in the profile were locked. I have a backup of two weeks prior (separate issue -- I was unaware my nightly backups weren't working for two weeks), but I'd like to recover the bookmark and password changes in that time.

Is there a way to get into the folder, or do I just need to accept the loss and go with the previous backup?
