Japanese characters usually do not render.

I can reproduce this issue by:

• going to the Wikipedia page for the katakana Unicode block.
• going to any YouTube comment with Japanese text.
• hovering over the screenshot of the YouTube comment so that the tooltip containing the name of the file is shown.

On YouTube the text renders only if 1.27916663885116563rem <= font-size <= 1.92083328962326036rem. Increasing `gfx.font_rendering.fontconfig.max_generic_substitutions` from 3 to 99 allows some punctuation to render and makes the text take up horizontal space. Further increase of the value to 999 causes the interpunct to render in the Wikipedia page.

I'm sorry but this is garbage.

I see posts here from five years ago asking about this, and fixing this issue is a non-trivial process particularly for those not computer literate enough. It should literally just work out of the box with zero issues like EVERY OTHER BROWSER.

Crap like this is why I dumped this browser years ago, I guess I was right to do so.

Below are two attached images, please take a look. From my understanding there are two different translation features built into firefox, you can identify them by looking at the attached screenshots. I very much dislike the translation features which has the "page icon". The other option which looks like an "alphabet icon" and has "EN" attached to it is very much welcome. I want to add this translation feature to the toolbar, however when i open up the "customize toolbar option" there is no translation feature available. How can i add it? I do remember that in previous firefox version, the translation feature was pinned to the very right of the bar.

For example, the word thema, is exclusively capitalized in German, and it shows as error indeed when lowercase, but the capitalized one is not offered in the options. Why is that and how to fix it?

Also, is there a way to autocorrect capitalization for example?

It works in Chromium 139 , Firefox ESR 128 , and latest WPS Office. HOW IF A CHINESE USER CANNOT TYPE CHINESE IN LATEST NIGHTLY (Debian forky/sid ,Linux kernel 6.16-rc7-amd64)

Reporting a bug:

"Firefox can’t update your languages right now. Check that you are connected to the internet or try again." but - Connection is established, INDEED!

German language pack not available :( manually downloaded verisons of german Language pack are incompatible.

When the translator starts translating from English to French, it displays Indonesian, but I haven't installed anything in Indonesian, and I don't read Indonesian, so where is it coming from?

i went to about:config -> browser.translations.enable and also browser.translations.automaticallyPopup , making sure it reads "false", and also went to Firefox Menu > Settings > General > Language and Appearance and under Languages the only language other than spanish (the language i want the browser to be) is english (maybe that way it recognizes it as an "allowed" language or something and doesnt translate from it)

...but it still translates pages from english (sometimes even translating the search result and directing me to a translate-version of the page instead of to the the page itself).

how can i make it not translate things from english anymore? (if the only solution is to stop translating altogether from any language, i'll gladly take it as long as it stops translating from english)

I just installed the browser and enabled Russian localization. Then I opened a page in English. A notification appeared with a suggestion to translate the page into another language. In the translator options, there is an option to select the language from which the translation will be made. There is Russian language there, but I chose English, it’s logical. And then comes the choice of the language into which the translation will be carried out, but there is no Russian language there. Why? How can I translate the page into Russian?

Just noticed that Firefox only has translation for Chinese Simplified from Mainland China, but no Chinese Traditional from Hong Kong and Taiwan users. Any plans to get it going? I would hate to switch back to Chrome or Edge instead.

I installed Firefox on my M4 Mac and it was in English, now it's in some other langue and I can't change it back. I deleted it, and reinstalled, same issue.

I cannot get it installed in English and have it remain in English. Please help.
