Trying to open Firefox in Windows 10 is suddenly only showing a completely white screen (no title bar, closing X, etc) and can only be closed by right clicking on the start bar icon and selecting "Close Program"

Have tried everything to fix the problem so decided that I would have to use the Control Panel and completely remove/uninstall the program and then re-download and install new (was able to save the bookmarks in html format from the "c" drive.

When selecting the Uninstall option in the Control Panel, rather than uninstalling as with any other program, a dialogue box appears offering to repair/reinstall the program, but on clicking the accept option another dialogue box appears stating that Firefox must be closed first --- but it is closed and also proved to be closed through the Task Manager section.

The Firefox version is 100.0.2

How can I completely uninstall Firefox when no option will allow this to happen. I have even tried via the "CMD" command.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as I have been working on t his problem for three days without any success.

Dropa,

Thank you for the information and apologies for the delay in replying.

I have solved the problem and have been able to uninstall the faulty program and have downloaded and installed the latest version.

Not sure why the following was necessary to be able to uninstall the program.

I use Thunderbird as the email client for one of my Hotmail accounts (my other email accounts use Eudora --- best email program ever released !!!) and as this Hotmail account receives quite a bit of traffic, after I re-boot the PC every morning, I open Thunderbird and leave it open (minimised) all day.

Yesterday in shere frustration I decided to try closing Thunderbird and to then try uninstalling Firefox (via the Control Panel option). To my surprise the Control Panel did not return the message that Firefox was still running (which it wasn't as far as I was concerned !!!) but immediately uninstalled the faulty Firefox program.

How the two Mozilla programs are connected I am not sure, but the closing of Thunderbird solved the problem.

The only problem now seems to be that Thunderbird is taking about 1min to open, whereas previously it was only a few seconds. BUT I guess that I can live with that bit of inconvenience, because once open it works correctly.

Again thanks for your response.

David
