Can I block video? I can block images with 'permissions.default.image'; I don't see 'permissions.default.video'. I most want to listen to Youtube without having to handle the bandwidth of video.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

That blocks the audio too.

You can't block only the video (image) part and leave the audio because both video and audio are send as one stream and it is either have them both or none of the two.

You can download the clip. Then extract the audio into an mp3 file.

When you have downloaded the file to your hard drive then is doesn't make a difference to the network traffic as you then play the file locally.

Maybe see if you can get a mobile version of the site with lower bandwidth, but that will probably give you lower sound quality as well.

I know about downloading the file then stripping the video. I'm looking to avoid the bandwidth use of video; many sites don't allow downloading. I suspected that audio and video are inextricably-entangled in Flash. I see a website that promises to do it for you, but I expect they can't do it for undownloadable files.

I'm unsurprised that it can't be done; I asked just in case someone had a surprise for me.
