I just purchased a MeLe Quieter2. It was loaded with some version of Windows 10. I downloaded Ubuntu to a removable storage device (thumb drive?) and want to download the Ubuntu Operating System to my MeLe mini. I really want to avoid "bricking" my mini desktop at all costs. My ultimate goal is to have my mini totally Linux oriented with Firefox as my browser and removing all Windows software, all Google apps, all social media and anything else that wants to market to me, demand my location and generally futz up my system. Can anyone help?

Beginning yesterday after installing a set of fresh MacOS updates, Firefox is repeatedly hanging on my iMac. My computer CPU spins up and Activity Monitor tells me that the process trustd is having a field day, up to 99% CPU usage. Then Firefox stops everything and in the middle of something basic like opening a search engine page or scrolling on an already-open page, I get a spinning rainbow ball of death and have to Force Quit from the taskbar several times before it closes.

Here is what I have tried to resolve:

  • Deleting and reinstalling
  • Troubleshooting mode
  • Downgrading to version 93.0
  • Stopping and restarting the trustd process from both Activity Monitor and from Terminal
  • Full deletion of all Firefox files from command line and installing 96.0.2.

The same problem keeps recurring. For reference, it's on a 2020 iMac running macOS Catalina (10.15.7), i9/16GB. My other machines are not affected. I have not yet upgraded to Big Sur or Monterrey on advice of workplace sysadmin.

Is anyone else seeing this issue with trustd? I am not seeing this problem with other software, just Firefox, but I can't figure out when Firefox calls trustd and what it asks it to do when it does.

I have two computers. On one I have no issues with Firefox. The other computer I have a major problem with "Secure Connection Failed" - I cannot open sites like CNN, Yahoo Mail, etc. As I have looked into this it seems this is a big Firefox issue. What advise can you provide to make this nightmare go away. I really like Firefox and I don't want to give it up. I have tried the "ABOUT:CONFIG" True/False solution and that did not work. PLEASE tell me there is a SIMPLE solution to this issue.

I am on site 1 (site1.net) in a video call. In the permissions pop-up of the FF browser it shows me that cross-site cookies are allowed for site 2 (yetanothersite.com). See the screenshot attached. Both sites are totally unrelated and have no link whatsoever. I visited site 2 once many months or a year ago. To my understanding it is very odd, that there is a permission for cross-site cookies from site 2 on site 1. This permission is not set on any other site. How could this permission have been set up, was it me, is this a bug? How come there is a permission for site 2 on site 1 while they have no interrelation? I have searched through the cookies.sqlite DB and found nothing irregular. The privacy / tracking settings are set to the "standard" choice. What am I missing here?

The system is Windows 11 with current FF 96.x.

I have been a "light theme" user for 15+ years. Since updating to 96.0 today, a dark mode spreading across Firefox has been forced onto me, including:

  • New tab background
  • Background of any tab waiting to load a page
  • Google/Youtube background
  • Settings/add-ons/password menu backgrounds
  • Automatic username/password drop-down background
  • Background of the little box that appears on the bottom-left (the one which shows the URL when you mouse over a link)

I am unhappy with this and wish to have my usual theme back. Can anyone please assist?

(In addition, there is some sort of white border around the current tab, which I do not like)

Greetings, Firefox community.

So a couple of months ago my Firefox browser (in a 2017 Macbook Air running MacOS Monterey 12.1) began having problems connecting specifically with Google websites (address bar search engine, Drive, Calendar, Gmail, YouTube, etc.).

Some days, my first search will go through, but then, with all posterior attempts, all I get is the "SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_UNEXPECTED_ALERT" error code.

I have tried logging off my Firefox account, reinstalling the browser, resetting all settings ("Refresh Firefox" button), cleared startup caché, and clearing all caché and data from these websites, but I keep getting the code and can't get through to the website.

The websites work normally in Safari.

I'd really appreciate your help, as it is very frustrating to have to use another browser only for Google searches, YouTube and GMail (Firefox continues being my favorite browser).

I am trying to access a few financial sites and receive the following security error that I am unable to resolve. Something changed with my Firefox settings recently as I was able to access these sites prior.

What can you do about it?

accountaccess.edwardjones.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.

If you are on a corporate network or using anti-virus software, you can reach out to the support teams for assistance. You can also notify the website’s administrator about the problem.

I'm enjoying the feature of the pinned "Amazon Search" on Firefox Home – not just a shortcut to Amazon, but a shortcut with a blue magnifying glass that adds the "search with Amazon" parameter to the main search bar and allows you to search Amazon.com without having to visit the site first. I was wondering if it's possible to add a custom shortcut for other search engines... for example, YouTube?

For reference, I have a custom search keyword established in Settings for YouTube – "@youtube". But I want to know how I can have that keyword pinned to my Home page, just like "@amazon" currently is.

Every time I tried to access my e-mail [or send e-mail], I received this Firefox error: "Server imap.earthlink.net has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." I was able to send and receive small e-mails; but I was unable to receive somewhat larger messages, including information on how to join a very important Zoom meeting. After spending 90 minutes on the phone with Earthlink, I was finally able to access some [but not all] larger e-mails by going around Firefox and going to earthlink.webmail.com directly. But, the Earthlink tech support person was unable to detect what was wrong in Firefox. I was eventually able to join the end of the Zoom meeting. After the meeting, I then went back to Firefox and was able to get and send some messages, but I'm still getting the same error message - and I'm not sure what messages I'm missing. I sure hope someone can help!

I am using Windows 10 on an Aspire E17. After startup over the last month or more, I have found that Firefox is taking an exxxxxtremely long time to load - something approaching 10 minutes at time. I have the opening page set as Google and that seems to be the one that loads the longest, others pages less so. Some of this is also due to Windows' MsMpEng.exe, which is of the habit of hogging around 100% of memory resources according to task manager.

Any suggestions?

I am using Firefox 96.0 running on Ubuntu 20.04. The procedure described on this site to create a desktop shortcut for a website (click on padlock, drag it to the desktop and release) does not work. A grayed image of the URL being dragged moves onto the desktop when dragged, but when the mouse button is released that grayed image springs back to the URL field.

I also tried the alternate procedure i.e. drag a shortcut from the Bookmarks menu onto the desktop. The same failure sequence as described above occurred.

I use Win10. I have an updated Firefox browser. I have deleted cookies and cleared the cache. I have restarted multiple times. Chase.com will NOT work with Firefox. I get a page that says the browser has to be updated to above version 76. and mine is 96.0.3 I did indeed follow their link to download and do the update even thought I knew I had the most recent update, and it worked. UNTIL...I closed the browser and tried to login again.

I contacted Chase for online support. The online "specialist" who was also the supervisor (?) at Chase has told me Chase is no longer compatible with Firefox. This makes NO sense to me. She insisted this was the case. I felt she didn't want to assist in hunting down the issue.

Does anyone else have a problem with the Chase.com website??

Firefox has been running fine for me for a long time but recently, like the last week or so, it has been crashing constantly. When I first boot up my computer, it will be fine for awhile and then it'll just crash. If I try to restart it then, it will either immediately crash or crash after a few seconds. sometimes it will hold together for a bit and then crash. I've had it crash when I've clicked to move to a new webpage, and I've had it crash when it is just idling on a webpage. I have already tried troubleshooting mode and it still crashed, so its not my extensions. Ive also tried to reinstall it and that has not helped either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
