Hi,

The Windows version is determined based on your User-Agent string, where Firefox, to prevent fingerprinting, puts "Windows NT 10.0" for both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

A Firefox 154.0.1 UserAgent or UA on Windows 10 and 11 shows as Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:154.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/154.0

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT#Releases

The Real correct reason why some sites may think you are using Windows 10 and not 11 is because Windows 11 is basically based on the same NT 10.0 as Windows 10 is. This is why Windows 11 builds have versions like 10.0.28000.2804 which was released on Aug 27.

There is no Windows 11.0 while previous Windows had it's own NT like for example Windows 8.1 was on NT 6.3, Windows 8 was NT 6.2 and Windows 7 was NT 6.1, Vista was 6.0 and XP was NT 5.2.

This has nothing to do with trying to make the UA more generic to minimize fingerprinting in this case. Blame Microsoft for not actually making a new version of Windows based on a new NT.

Ideally this shouldn't be shown at all; it's tracked in github.com/mozilla/fxa/issues/21045

If Windows 11 was actually based on NT 11.0 then yes the Firefox UA on Windows 10 and 11 is frozen with NT 10.0.
